Life as a woman DOES NOT END because the rules are lost. It depends on each one how they want to live one of the longest and most enriching stages of life

Menopause Consultation

What is the definition of menopause?

The term Menopause corresponds to the date of the last rule. It also requires that the woman subsequently not have menses for at least 12 months. This is important because any woman who has bleeding after at least 12 months without periods SHOULD see her gynecologist to rule out pathologies that have caused these bleeding.

At what age does menopause occur?

The average age is 50-51 years. The normal interval of presentation is from 45 to 55 years. A percentage of women present it many years before, defining early menopause as that which appears before the age of 40.

Perimenopause is called the previous years until the definitive cessation of menstruation in which the woman begins to feel and present characteristic physical and emotional changes.

Postmenopause is the period after which menses cease.

Why does menopause occur?

The loss of the rules is a physiological evolution, that is to say, normal in the life of the woman. It is caused by the progressive decrease in the function of the ovary. This is a fact that occurs in a very similar way in all women in the world and is part of the aging of the body over time, in the same way that vision and hearing decrease or changes appear in the metabolism in general. The decrease in ovarian function conditions, among other things, that the production of hormones, such as estrogens, cannot maintain the pattern of the menstrual cycle that a specific woman has had throughout her life. This progressive loss of estrogen levels is what determines the appearance of the typical symptoms of this stage of life.
