REGENERATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL GYNECOLOGY
genital prolapse
Tissue alterations can affect the pelvic floor due to the dilation of muscles and ligaments that make it up. This dilation can cause vaginal prolapse, that is, the descent or fall of the vagina and, sometimes, the descent of the rest of the pelvic organs.
Vaginal prolapse can have different degrees of severity. In general, the woman feels a "weight" in her genitals and a sensation of presence of volume that becomes more intense with efforts.
The descent of the vagina can be anterior and is called a cystocele, or it can be posterior or rectocele.
What is the treatment of genital prolapse?
The solution to this problem is addressed, except in very severe cases, through surgery with local anesthesia that fixes the vagina to its correct position using support meshes, sometimes plus the use of the laser to produce adequate contraction and recovery of muscle tone.
